Clery Act Compliance At BYU

- Missing Person Procedures, 20 U.S.C. § 1092(j)
- Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention, 20 U.S.C. § 1011i(a)(1)
- Stop Campus Hazing Act, which amended the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act
Together, BYU’s compliance with these laws constitutes BYU’s Clery Act Compliance Program.
Clery Act Compliance Program
BYU’s Clery Act Compliance Program includes
- maintaining a publicly available Crime & Fire Log
- producing and distributing the Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report
- identifying and training campus security authorities (CSAs)
- facilitating CSA crime reports
- compiling required crime statistics (see the Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report)
- regularly updating BYU’s Clery geography
- maintaining a fire safety program
- maintaining and following missing person procedures and other required safety-related policies
- producing a biennial Drug Free School and Workplace Report
- compiling a Campus Hazing Transparency Report (if necessary)
- implementation of hazing policies, including those specific to hazing prevention, and
all other required components
Clery Act Compliance Program Oversight
BYU’s Clery Act Compliance Program is overseen by the Executive Risk Management and Compliance Committee
- the Integrity and Compliance Office
- the Clery Act Compliance Committee
- the Drug Free Compliance Committee
, and - the Timely Warning and Emergency Notification Committee

To meet the university’s Clery Act obligations, ERMCC also coordinates with BYU Police
