Protecting Your Privacy: Updated Information Use, Privacy, and Security Policy

Keeping personal information private and secure at BYU is a team effort.

BYU is committed to keeping personal information private and secure, especially in today’s digital age when cyberattacks are all too common. The Information Use, Privacy, and Security Policy has been updated to help provide clear information safekeeping guidance to the university community. We all have a role in keeping data secure. Reviewing this policy will help you understand

  • how nonpublic institutional data is collected, used, disclosed, stored, and disposed of;
  • the principles that govern how personal information is collected and used;
  • how the privacy of individuals on campus is protected in relation to video surveillance in public locations; and
  • when you are required to report security breaches, phishing/hacking attempts, and lost or stolen university-owned tech devices.
