Integrity Outreach
Brigham Young University has a unique religious mission to assist individuals in their quests for intellectual and spiritual development. The Integrity & Compliance Office (ICO) furthers this mission by promoting a university culture of ethics and integrity that enables BYU to be a light to the world. Integrity and compliance are essential at universities, but they are too often isolated from each other. In the long run, it’s more effective to create a culture of integrity and compliance where these values are not only in the rules and checklists – they are characteristics of the organization. Here are some examples of the ICO’s outreach efforts.

Sticker – September 15, 2023
We celebrated the 4th anniversary of the Integrity & Compliance Office with an exclusive birthday sticker! To mark this milestone, we hosted a celebration at the student center, transforming it into a festive hub for two hours of birthday excitement. Activities included birthday games, the distribution of party favors like bouncy balls, party blowers, party hats, and the ever-popular balloon animals. Cotton candy was offered, accompanied by live accordion music playing requested tunes. The event not only spread joy but also allowed us to connect with and inform over 300 students about the invaluable work of the Integrity & Compliance Office.

Poster – October 25, 2023
The ICO hosted a student outreach event on campus, aiming to raise awareness about key resources: BYU Police, policy.byu.edu, and the compliance hotline. In Halloween costumes, our team organized a game where participants navigated scenarios using these resources. Spooky music added to the atmosphere, emphasizing the importance of integrity and compliance. With cotton candy and gumball eyeballs, we created a fun learning experience, celebrating the successful blend of education and entertainment in empowering students with valuable knowledge.

Invitation – Ongoing
The Integrity & Compliance Office, in partnership with the Office of General Counsel and Risk Management, created Compliance, Legal and Risk Student Advancement & Leadership Training (CLR SALT). This is a paid monthly training for student employees designed to enlarge individual’s capacities as a disciple of Christ, a leader, and a professional.
